The Perfect Cake

If you're interested in a custom designed cake, you've come to the right place! We specialize in unique, one-of-a-kind, artistic designs. Pricing for this type of cake is on a per project basis, depending on the difficulty of the design and artistic level. We do everything from custom toppers, hand painting, sculptures, sugar lace, hand piping, and sculpted cakes. The sky is the limit here! 

If you’re hoping for a more natural or simple cake, we offer a variety of styles from rustic naked cakes to messy buttercream to birch cakes. Your cake design starts with a few simple questions: what is your guest count, what is the date of your event and where are you getting married? From there, we'll work with you to discuss your budget, flavors, theme, florals, etc. We love visualizing your dream wedding and designing a custom cake just for you, so don’t worry if you’re still figuring out the details. We’re happy to help you along the way.

Flavors

Everything we do is custom, down to making homemade sauces and fillings, buttercream and cake flavors. We use local and fresh ingredients when available. There are a large variety of flavor options in our cake section. 

Basic cake flavors like vanilla, chocolate or even lemon are in our basic flavor pricing at $9 a slice. Fillings may go up to $9.5 a slice. A custom, specialty flavor is priced according to the flavor and ingredients. For example, our Bananas Foster cake is a banana cake made with real bananas, brushed with brown sugar rum reduction, soaked in homemade caramel and filled with a rum caramel buttercream. This cake is a specialty flavor at $9.5 a slice. 

Most couples choose two flavors. In a 3-tier cake to feed 50, for example, the bottom tier would be one flavor, such as Champagne Raspberry, (Champagne cake filled with homemade raspberry sauce and champagne buttercream). The top two flavors could be another flavor like our Chocolate Blackberry Espresso, (Chocolate cake, soaked with espresso ganache, filled with homemade blackberry sauce and espresso buttercream).

By choosing two flavors, you would have close to equal amounts of both flavors, we do recommend offering something chocolatey and something more vanilla based for your guests. Keep in mind the more flavors you choose, the fewer servings per flavor. We will recommend flavors to you and help guide you on how many flavors are best for your guest count. Some couples keep it simple and pick one flavor, and that’s great too!

It is then up to you and your venue on how the cake is served. You can choose to have your cake served at the table settings, or put onto a cake table that is self serve. If you choose two or more flavors, your venue will typically alternate the flavors at each place setting. This works great when you are looking for a more formal event. The second option is to have the cake put onto a table for your guests to take. This is fun and slightly more casual, which can be great. For the cake fans, this may give guests the chance to try both flavors! With this option, we recommend labeling the flavor of the cake so your guests know what is what.


Our Cakes

Our cakes are typically triple layers, meaning 3 layers of cake and two layers of filling, (sauces, ganache, or custard and buttercream). When picking your flavor, you will have an option of cake, type of filling, and the type of buttercream. Any cake flavor with a filling is considered our specialty flavors. Double layer cakes are available upon request.

We use buttercream for most of our cakes. Special requests for additional frosting options are usually accepted. In the cake section, you will also see a variety of no-buttercream cakes like our Caramel Ganache or Lemon Ricotta cake. Those are available for weddings, however may not work with all designs. 

All cakes, sauces, fillings and frostings are made from scratch. We use good quality ingredients and make everything custom. Local ingredients are used whenever possible.

What is buttercream? It's not just a clever name, it is literally creamed butter with natural flavorings and powdered sugar. If you are not a fan of the taste of butter? Unfortunately, this is the only option for our frosting. However, maybe try our vanilla bean mascarpone cheese filling, cream cheese buttercream, or a flavored buttercream.

Allergies

We frequently work with gluten-free and tree nut/peanut-free events. In these circumstances we do our absolute best to sanitize and take all necessary precautions to offer you a satisfactory product. Please be aware that gluten is airborne. We work with flour and nuts everyday, and unfortunately cannot make any 100% guarantees on cross-contamination. Our facility is not certified Gluten-Free or Peanut-Free.  We take these allergies and intolerances very seriously and will do our absolute best. However, if you or a guest is severely allergic or intolerant they are consuming at their own risk, and we do not recommend anyone risking this if they know they are highly allergic. As of now, we have never had an issue, but we can also not take any responsibility after giving these notes about our Gluten, Tree Nut & Peanut Friendly environment.

Most of the flavors we offer can be gluten-free. There are a variety of options in our cake section that can be converted into a gluten free option. Some weddings we've worked with had highly allergic attendees and chose to have all aspects of their desserts be gluten-free to avoid temptation or accidentally consuming the wrong dessert. Others chose to have only the top tier of the cake be gluten-free, and offer their guests our regular cake. We are able to accommodate other desserts as gluten-free upon special request.

Cake Tables

A great way to save money on a tiered cake, but to still give the illusion of a larger dessert display, we offer cake tables! These are made up of multiple, single tiered cakes starting at $6.50 a slice, and all displayed on a table together. Cake tables help create a gorgeous display. If you have a very large guest count, having one highly decorated cake large enough to feed everyone can get expensive. By having a smaller 3 or 4 tier artistic cake, and a cake display of single tiered cakes, you'll be able to save a little extra money!

Display Cakes

Another option for saving a little money is ordering a display cake that is decorated with artistic detail. The remaining servings would be made up of “kitchen cakes”, which would cut the exact same, with 3 layers, but would be decorated simple and naked. For this, you are paying a design fee on the tiered cake only.

For example: Order a cake to feed 100 (probably a 4 tier) that is custom decorated. This would be priced based on artistic detail, starting at $9 a slice. Then for your remaining 50 guests you would pay $6.50 per serving, with the same flavors and fillings as your display cake. These kitchen cakes would be given directly to the kitchen and sliced and served like normal.
